What is Owning an Electric Vehicle Like in Minnesota?

Electric battery powered vehicles have been growing in popularity recently. 3 great places to buy electric cars in Minnesota are Tesla, GS Motors, and Nissan. These businesses have stores in local areas. There is a Tesla dealership in Maplewood, Minnesota, a GS Motors in Hopkins, Minnesota, and a Nissan dealership in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. More information is stated on each of the businesses’ websites at  www.tesla.com, gsmotors.us and www.nissanusa.com

For some, it may be hard choosing whether to buy an electric vehicle or a standard gas powered vehicle. On Wednesday, January 6th, 2021, I contacted Tesla, GS motors, and Nissan looking for what electric vehicles are like here in Minnesota. They all said how electric cars are economical, because you don’t need to pay for gas money while owning one. Tesla and GS Motors both said how electric vehicles are good for the environment, because they produce less pollution than a gas powered car does. Nissan said that a benefit is that you don’t need to change the battery for 8 years, which also saves money.

Electric vehicles have many benefits, but they still have a few downsides. According to GS Motors, the range is the biggest downside. Electric cars are not made for people who drive a lot, because their range is limited. Nissan stated that a downside is that you have to charge the vehicle every 20-40 miles or so, which could be a handful for some. It results in having to find charging stations and areas to charge their vehicle. There are many charging stations around Minnesota, like in Coon Rapids, Elk River, and Minneapolis. You can also purchase an at-home charger. Electric cars, more or less, are a great new invention headed towards success.
