BHS Blood Drive

BHS Blood Drive

On December 13th in the west gym of Blaine High School, the HOSA program to benefit the American Red Cross. This years blood drive had 184 student pre-registered to donate, down from last years number which was over 200. This event is put on by the HOSA program (Health Occupation Students of America). Around 20 students are a part of the full-time internship program.

Senior Frank Kimemia told us that he enjoys the program because he is interested in a career in the medical field, and this helps get his foot in the door. He also enjoys it because it has taught him how to prioritize and manage his time better among many other life skills.

Junior Ellen Anderson said, “I felt like I was making a difference, you know helping people, possibly saving someones life. It just brings a smile to my face.”

The HOSA director Mrs. Sullivan was unavailable to be interviewed for further information.

There will be another blood drive happening this spring so be sure to sign up and donate, you never know whose life you can save.
