Pencil Shortage? Probably Not.
June 1, 2015
Around school many students do not bring a pencil to class, and ask their teacher for one. This applies to a large amount of students in Blaine High School from my first-hand experience, including myself. And then the number of those who only bring one pencil is moderately high as well, which means that they are out of luck if they lose it.
High school is about teaching students to prepare themselves for life, and one of those lessons is being more responsible. Should teachers provide students with pencils, as a get-out-of-jail free card? In some jobs, that may be the case, and your co-workers/boss might lend you tools you forgot for the job. Others don’t. I feel that teachers should be less lenient about letting students borrow pencils. If they keep forgetting, they fail. Bad habits should be dropped to help students prepare for the other world out there ahead of this one.
