Student Spotlight: Your Opinion On Our School

Student Spotlight: Your Opinion On Our School

I decided to ask two of my friends some questions to do a student spotlight type article. Here is my questions list:

  1. If you had the power to change one thing about our school, what would it be and why?
  2. If you became the principal, what would be the first thing you would do as ¨ruler of the school¨ and why?
  3. What makes you a good student?
  4. If school were a movie, what movie would it be?
  5. How do you define peer pressure and is it dangerous?
  6. If you had the power to hire anyone in the world as your teacher, who would it be and why?

My friend Hailie said that if she had the power to change something about our school, she would do her best to change the cliques because there are a lot of cliques. If she was principal, she would probably make school dances a little better. What makes her a good student is her focus, drive, and happiness, as she makes an amazing effort to make everyone happy. If school were a movie, she said it would be like ¨The Duff¨, because ¨there was always that one girl getting picked on by people outside her ¨posse¨ or even inside”. Concerning peer pressure, she said ¨Kids nowadays will do anything they know other kids are doing and sometimes other people make bad choices. But on the other hand, some kids make good choices, so it goes both ways.¨ She would hire Selena Gomez as her teacher because she has inspired her.

My friend Marissa said that she would change the fact that so much homework is given. As she says, “It doesn’t help, and no one wants to take the time to work on something that won’t help them.” If she became principal, she would ban homework because “kids don’t want to sit around doing homework everyday, and kids would be happier because parents are sometimes badgering their kids about “doing their homework and getting amazing grades and being perfect.” No one is perfect. What makes her a good student is that she is bright in class, she has lots of potential, and she’s smart. If school were a movie, she said it would be “Grease”, because, as she says, “There’s always someone who picks on everybody and then there are those few kids who are laid back, who don’t do anything, and they do what they want.” She says that peer pressure “puts a lot of fear in kids minds because they feel like they are being rushed. If they are being rushed, they will internally explode, and start to do the same type of things that other kids are doing because they feel pressured to fit in and be like everyone else.” If she could pick anyone to be her teacher, it would be the Youtuber Markiplier because he’s funny and understanding.
