Sing the Name of Bridget Welsch

Sara Ho

Bridget is so down with it

School is filled with thousands of voices and footsteps. I listen to music to drown all of that out and just have some time for myself. Some me time, if you know what I mean. I go outside and wait for the bus, I’m always a little late going to the bus stop. I really like my sleep, okay. The bus ends up coming at 7:02.

On the bus I listen to Paramore:

“So what are you gonna do /

When the world don’t orbit around you /

Ain’t it fun /

Living in the real world” .

I arrived to school at 7:12 and I go to my locker, quickly cracking the code. I grab my stuff to meet my friends down at the cafeteria, where I eat breakfast. Every step I take matches the beat of my music.

Taylor Swift:

“But the monsters turned out to be just trees/

And when the sun came up, you were lookin’ at me.”

I talk to my friends up until the 10 minute bell rings. And a few of my friends leave to go to their classes, but two of them stay behind. We say a few jokes and I glance at my phone to see that it’s 7:35. I grab my folder and stand up, waving goodbye to my friends. I pop in two headphones as I wade my way through the sea of other high school students.

M.I.A.:

“Every stop I get to I’m clocking that game/

Everyone’s a winner now we’re making that fame.”

1st hour I have math upstairs and I sit in the very back. Math is really easy for me, so I start to get bored. Nothing really happens, it’s just math. So when the bell rings, it’s my signal to press play on my phone.

Gypsy and the Cat:

“Heaven tells the past all he had was love and fear/

He was stronger then all he had was love and pain.”

2nd hour is civics with Ms. Bottineau which is always fun. I love Ms. Bottineau, she’s a really good teacher. Whenever I talk about Honors Civics I can’t stop a bubbling memory. Ms. Bottineau had this exercise ball that had a cut in it and she already duct taped it. But when she sat on the ball, it popped and she fell. I remember laughing so hard. My friends and I did end up getting her a new one, but that’s something I probably won’t ever forget!

Demi Lovato:

But even if the stars and moon collide/

I never want you back into my life/

3rd hour, is outside in the portables. When I go to my ASL class, I listen to a language of movement. ASL is really easy so it ends up flying by.

Troye Sivan:

“Life is chances that are taken/

But nothing’s ever broken/

They’re just pieces on the ground/

New hands need to build them.”
4th hour is Debate with Mr. Eichele, and I have D Lunch. In the cafeteria, I’m eating a PB&J sandwich that I don’t like. After lunch, at 12:50, I return to class. Mr. Eichele makes me laugh and Debate is fun, but it also challenges me.

Vance Joy:

“Oh, all my friends are turning green.”

The last class of the day in Honors English. The class and what we learn isn’t very fun. I actually kind of hate the class, but I really like the people!

The Vamps:

“And then you caught my eye/

Giving me the feeling of a lightning strike.”

At the end of the day, after 5th hour, I’m ready to pack up and leave. My eyes are always a little heavy, and I’m ready to drop into a deep slumber. Today, I ended up listening to 33 songs and this is just one day. I listen to music every day and I smile everytime I hear my favorite songs on shuffle. Music brightens my day, and makes the day go smoother!

Tonight is a little different because my stepdad is taking me to go volunteer at Eisenhower Elementary School Carnival. I leave at 2:45 and I’m ecstatic because I’ve been waiting to go to this all day. I think volunteering is a really good experience, and it brings a smile to my face every time.
