Allie Garrow

Allie Garrow (11) a student at Blaine High School is one interesting lady. She’s involved with everything from managing sports, to walking down a runway. She’s even involved with preventing suicide.

Garrow is one of the three representatives for Blaine High School’s New Wilderness Project. Garrow said, “Our goal is to lessen down on suicide each year… we’re trying to lessen down on bullying and depression even by teachers. Teachers also need to work on this along with students.”

Garrow is involved with managing as, well. Last year, Allie managed football, as well as wrestling. She’s thinking about managing wrestling again this year. “I’m very excited about that because our guys’ team is very well driven… Mr. Prokosch is a great coach, and a great leader to me and I look up to him.” said Garrow.

Off the mat, Garrow is also involved with her church. Garrow and her church do charity events like: feed the hungry, make blankets for the homeless, and make sanitary kits for the homeless.

On top of volunteering, Garrow has worked at Wendy’s, Totally Tan, and recently got hired as a cashier at Target.

Garrow is enrolled in the CEMS program at Blaine which focuses mainly on engineering, mathematics, and science. “All the teachers are very nice and influential,” said Garrow.

Besides hitting the books, Garrow has been hitting the runway. She recently got accepted into IPAA, [International Performing Arts Academy], where she models, acts, and sings. Garrow says, “Hopefully with IPAA, I will be getting some agents soon.”

Garrow also admits that IPAA has helped her mentality, with her home situation. Garrow says, “I think IPAA builds a lot of confidence about who you are… ever since I’ve joined the program I’ve been a lot more about who I am, I’m not going to follow anybody.”

IPAA requires their girls to maintain a good grade level too. “I am right now working so hard on school, I need to get at least A and B averages to model. I encourage others to take school seriously because this is going to influence your future.”

When asked what her future goals are before she finishes high school, Garrow said, “I want to for sure pass the ACT test… get my license…and over the summer… take some classes at North Hennepin Community College. Another goal I have is just to have every single person at Blaine High School feel beautiful about themselves. Building confidence because that’s the one thing in life that can get you anywhere.”
