Guys Dance Line (GDL) caused controversy last month when they could not perform at the pepfest.

Its a bengal tradition that the girls dance team puts together a group of guys to perform at the Powder Puff game and dance show at BHS. 

25 guys, wearing short cut off jeans, cut off flannel shirts, snap backs, and boots [GDL] decided to dance at the pep fest without going through any sort of process to get into the pepfest schedual. 

GDL captain, Mike Bringlold, planned to interupt and force thier way into the pepfests schedual through a series of chants. 

The croud started to cheer and chant as GDL went out onto the court to dance. Before they could start principal Mr. Phelps interrupted and forced them to be done. 

After the pepfest Joey Lau said “The teachers agreed to let dance before the homecoming football game”. 

Twitter was a tool used to comunicate between students during school. People were tweeting about the pepfest so much that students from Andover, Champlain, Coon Rapids, Rogers, and even KDWB ,a popular radio station, heard about the GDL and tweeted “#LetThemDance #Blaine #GDL”. 

After thrird hour people rushed down the hallways towards the Deca Den. Hundreds of students were on top of lockers, an estimated 2,000 other students gathered to see the GDL dance in front of the Deca Den.

Students started chanting “Let them Dance” and “GDL GDL”. The team did not do dance. As things calmed down students started to go back to class. 

The GDL would not dance until the game. Before they went out to dance Mr. Phelps talked to them about what happend earlier in the day. He told them they “could have done it in a more cicil manner, and go through the correct process to get there. But I wanted you guys to dance the whole time”

After asking Ms. Hall if anyone could get in trouble she laughed and said “are you kidding me, suspend 2,000 students? Nobody is going to get in trouble”.
