The boys varsity lacrosse game on wednesday April 22 was won by the bengals. Having a MSHSL (Minnesota State High School League) official team here since 2009, we have been very successful. Making it to section finals the last two years, and ranking in the top of our conference the 2015 season. So far our boys have gone 4-0 this season. So far our biggest opponents will be Maple Grove who we play on Friday April 24th, Robbinsdale/Armstrong who we play on May 11th and Champlain Park who we play on May 13th.

In interviews with the head director of all activities here at Blaine Mr. Gerrety and the teams head coach Josh Swart, they Both say “that our numbers have been very good” (in relation to how many kids have tried out for the team, more than 80 kids tired out for teams this 2015 season). Shannon also said “It is one of the fastest growing sports in the state”.

Final score of the game wednesday night was 7-1 Blaine. After first quarter 1-0 Blaine due to a goal by Evan Anderson(10).  Two more goals came for the Bengals in the 2nd by John Hicke(11) and Brady Kennelly(11). Totino finally shows up in the last thirty seconds of the 2nd with one goal. Only to be followed by a two goal 3rd quarter by John Hicke(11) and sealing the hat trick for John.  The fourth quarter was more of the same with two goals coming for the bengals from Alec Larson(11) . Still only one goal for Totino.

After the game we talked to Coach Swart on his thoughts on how they played and he told us “ The defense played well, but it took a little while for the offense to get some good, smart shots.” We also asked his thoughts on John Hicke(11) who had a hat trick in the game and he told us that “John is a very unique player with a great future.” He also added that John is a very “coachable” player.

The fans, coaches, and parents of the boys are excited to see what the boys will do next. Come out and support your Bengals lacrosse teams!
