Boys’ Basketball: Blaine at Champlin Park

Blaine lost to the Champlin Park Rebels for the second time this season.  The Bengals saw defeat by a 82-68 decision on Tuesday night in Champlin.

Blaine, now winless on the road since December 20, stayed with Champlin until late in the second half when the home Rebels went on a run and stuck Blaine with a decisive loss.

Senior reserve Mitch Jorgenson(12) gave his team a big 12 points and never missed a shot.  Jorgenson scored the more points than any other Blaine bench player, and clearly struck emotion into his teammates.

Despite an uncommonly impressive shooting night for the Bengals (45% FG), the 82 points that Champlin scored is a tough sum to overcome in a high school basketball game.  The Rebels made seven three pointers, and got to the free throw line 32 times.

Next up for Blaine (7-16) is a home game on Friday against the conference leader, Park Center.  The Pirates have just two shameless losses this season, one against DeLaSalle, and the other against Osseo. Those teams are ranked first and second in the state, respectively.  Blaine lost to Park Center 85-65 on January 10th.
