Boys’ Basketball: Blaine at Armstrong

The struggles continued for the Blaine boys as they lost their seventh straight game on Tuesday at Armstrong. Blaine forward Kurt Gillund(12) scored 11 points for the second straight game, but it wasn’t enough when the final buzzer sounded and Armstrong celebrated a 63-56 victory.

The game looked very winnable for the Bengals when they went into the locker room at halftime.  Gillund hit back-to-back three point shots to put Blaine in front, 28-25.  Armstrong added a bucket before the half, and the Bengals were up by one at the break.  Gillund hit all three of his shots from behind the arc. The rest of the team missed each of their eleven such shots.

Armstrong’s jump shots looked flawless in the second half.  Blaine’s defenders couldn’t contain the Falcons’ sharpshooting, and were outscored in the second half, 36-28.

Blaine will host Centennial on Friday night in the BHS field house.  The Bengals beat the Cougars, 66-62, on December 6th at Centennial High School.
