Blaine had a tough game ahead of them Friday night at home versus the Cougars.
The frigid October weather halted any scoring drives from both sides in the first quarter till mid-way through the second when the Bengals converted a third and goal to get them a new set of downs.
Blaine wasted no time. The second play after the converted down the Bengal’s powered their way into the end zone for a two yard touchdown run. The next possession the Cougars came back moving down field with ease, but the Bengal defense halted the Cougar offense and allowed only a field goal.
On Bengals next possession, the Cougar defense was still not clicking and allowed the Bengals to march 80 yards down field to top the first half off with a touchdown pass from 10 yards out ending the first half Bengals up 14-3.
The Cougar defense improved to start the second half. After being held to only a 15 yard kick return on the first, Blaine would settle for a field goal to make the score 17-3.
The Cougar offense started clicking and rushed down field for 73 yards, capping the drive with a 3 yard rushing touchdown. Centennial would go for the two point conversation but fail at converting it making the score 17-9. Blaine would be held to punt for the their drive. But the Bengals were able to intercept a Cougar pass to quickly go back on offense. The turnover gave the Bengals great field position. They were able to execute a 23 yard drive and cap it off with a quick 7 yard HB pitch for a touchdown.
It would be smooth sailing for the Bengals from there on causing a forced fumble recovering on the Centennial 22 which lead to a 7 yard QB run for a touchdown to make the score be Blaine 31 centennial 9. Blaine would score a fifth a final rushing touchdown to end the game with a Bengal victory the final score Blaine-38 Centennial-9.
