Hall Pass Rebellion

Hall+Pass+Rebellion

As we welcomed a new school year here at Blaine High School, we also welcomed something else: The Hall Pass System. If you’re a student at Blaine, I’m sure you’re more than familiar with this new edition. Basically, each student is given twelve passes a trimester, that they may use to go to their locker, get a drink, or go to the bathroom, during class. This differs from previous years’ policy of “leave whenever the teacher deems fit, regardless of passes”.  Now, as a student who doesn’t like to leave class once it’s started, this new system hasn’t really had a major impact on me, but it has had an impact on other students. Just talking to friends, and listening to class discussions on the topic, I’ve found that most students, and even some teachers, are against or dislike this new system. Now some students are fighting back, but how?

Since the implementation of this new system, there have been a couple of petitions floating around school. Students signing their names, hoping it’ll get enough approval to get rid the school of the new system. If you want to sign it yourself, or you’re just curious, there are a few still making their ways.

Other students found other ways to rebel. A group of unknown students here at BHS, have started a website where they make and sell counterfeit hall passes. For the students who worry about running out of passes, this is a risky, yet viable option. It’s unknown if this group has actually had any customers, but it is for certain they are fighting the power, in whatever way they can.
