The Blaine Girls Varsity soccer team pulled an impressive win over the Osseo Orioles, Saturday, September 23.

Starting out the game, Osseo goalkeeper made a surprising save, but the Bengals were not discouraged; as Blaine defender, Mckenna Miller, scored 36:26 into the game. The two teams battled on the field, Osseo behind, 1-0. At 30:36, Blaine forward Kaylee Burkett-Behun, made an impressive goal, surging Blaine ahead 2-0. Most of the game, at this point, had been played in the Orioles’ defensive zone. Blaine’s goalkeeper, Ashley Shackelford kept a shutout, making magnificent saves. Blaine midfielder, Tiana DeGrande, was especially aggressive in her tactics, something that did not go unnoticed by the officials.  The score at halftime: 2-0, Bengals in the lead.

Returning after the half, Blaine quickly scored, as Blaine Midfielder, Haley Ramberg, kicked the ball in at 38:21. The struggle continued, 3-0, as both teams fought for the ball. Blaine showed an aptitude for footwork, but Osseo’s goalkeeper worked hard to stop Blaine from scoring. Blaine’s new goalkeeper, Amy Powers, also made great saves, allowing no goals in.  Then at 9:14, Blaine defender Jaida Weige scored, pulling Blaine ahead by even more, 4-0. With only 1:02 left in the game, Blaine midfielder, Ava Zoschke, scored, making the final score: 5-0, Bengals with the win.
