Future Filmmaker: Reese Kneeland
November 20, 2016
Film is the art of motion picture. Throughout history, there have been countless filmmakers who have made their name in the industry, from Alfred Hitchcock to Steven Spielberg, but Blaine High School has its very own Filmmaker.
Reese Kneeland, a current sophomore at Blaine High School, has developed an interest in film and filmmaking, which he has turned into a hobby. Recently, Reese published a music video starring some other Blaine students, Ethan Z. (10), Claire Y. (10), Autumn G. (10), Kole K. (10) and Chris H. (11).
I asked Reese why he wanted to make this music video, and he replied “I wanted to make the music video because I thought it would be an interesting and challenging project to take on as a filmmaker with the small budget and resources that I had”. I asked him if he had any filmmakers that inspired him or that he looked up to. He said “A YouTuber by the name of Casey Neistat was the one who made me realize how accessible filmmaking really was, and he was the one who initially inspired me to start creating” though he also said “I really believe that you can’t do anything using only inspiration, if you rely on inspiration or motivation from external sources you will fail. You need to have the desire within yourself to work at a goal and complete it to achieve any level of success in the area that you are pursuing”.
Reese currently isn’t working on any other projects, because he is in the process of trading in his camera for a better model, he does have a couple other projects planned for after he gets his new camera.
