Frankenstein(1931)
The commonly heard quote “He’s Alive” from the 1931 film Frankenstein is actually false. A lot of people confuse this quote with the actual quote said by Dr. Frankenstein: “It’s alive!”
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1938)
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has arguably the most frequently heard misquote of “Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” When in fact Maleficent actually said “Magic mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?”
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Probably the most well known quote from star wars is the famous “Luke, I am your father.” However, Darth Vader never specified Luke’s name. Instead Vader exclaimed “No, I am your father” when he revealed the truth to his son.
Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)
Another common mistake is when people associate Obi Wan Kenobi with the quote “May the Force be with you.” When actually Obi Wan never said it at all. The closest thing Obi Wan said to that is “Remember, the Force will be with you… always.”
Wizard of Oz (1939)
That famous quote “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore,” is yet another misinterpreted quote. According to the 1939 movie, Dorothy instead exclaims “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
Jaws (1975)
One of the most known quotes from jaws, “We’re going to need a bigger boat,” is a misquote from the movie’s original quote “You’re going to need a bigger boat.”
Forrest Gump (1994)
One of Forrest Gump’s most popular quotes “Mama always said that life is like a box of chocolates,” is a very common take on the famous quote “My mama always said life was like a box of chocolates.”
