Empire Grill Review: Food Fantastic for the Price

The Empire Grill’s hummus, falafel, and salad.

I am not a food critic.  I know next to nothing about flavor combinations, textures, etc.  I know what foods I like, but that’s about it.  I’m writing this review because I went to the Empire Grill, liked their food, and thought I should write about it.

The Empire Grill is a new restaurant on County Highway 14 across the street from Roosevelt Middle School.  It specializes in Mediterranean food, but several American options are available as well.  It has a sit-down section, but you can order take-out food, too.

The Mediterranean food, for the most part, was very good.  My favorite was the Meat Lover’s Gyro, which combined a pile of Philly cheese-steak and lamb meat on a bun.  I also liked the falafel, or a fried ball of ground chickpeas.  It might sound weird, but it was really good.  The hummus (mashed chickpeas) on naan (flat-bread) was good as well.

The Empire Grill’s American food tasted good, but not quite as good as its Mediterranean food.  The Tilapia I had was OK, but spicier than the Tilapia you get at most restaurants.  What I liked more was the Pizza Puffs, which was basically a deep-fried ball of pizza sauce and cheese.

But the best food of all was the baklava.  Baklava is a multi-layered dessert made of filo (a Greek bread) and held together by honey or syrup.  It was delicious.  It was sweet (but not too sweet) and flaky (but not too flaky).  If you go to the Empire Grill, get the baklava for only $2.99.

Which leads me to another thing I loved about the Empire Grill: the price.  The Meat Lover’s Gyro, which contained a mountain of meats, cost $6.99 for the sandwich; a House Salad costs $5.99; and the Empire Grill Basket, which comprises wings, shrimp, tilapia, and french fries costs only $12.99.

In conclusion, the Empire Grill is a great restaurant.  My food was fantastic, and so was the price.  This is a restaurant worthy of your patronage.
