Marvel’s latest movie Deadpool is perhaps the most comedic and graphic of all of the marvel movies put together.

deadpool-billboard-hed-2016Before the movie hit theaters there was quite a bit of advertising that captured the public’s attention in various ways. There was an ad that was entirely out of emojis, featuring a skull, the poop emoji, and the letter “L”. The ad was supposed to stand for Deadpool, however some read it as “Skullpoopl” SkullPoopL1-600x245which inspired another ad with that as the title underneath. So from the beginning it was clear that the movie was going to have sodeadpool-krWDh5me mocking and sarcastic humor. However there were also ads that portrayed the movie to be a romance movie or romantic comedy perhaps. Along with various other advertisements such as Deadpool sitting on a chair in a Santa Clause hat,MWkpZNL having his hands geld up in a heart shape, vandalizing DC Comic’s movie posters, a close up of his midsection while he’s holding a gun, and the ad with Deadpool wearing a hello kitty backpack with a hilarious catchphrase.

Walking into the theater, it was obvious that this film will not be like any of the Marvel movies made before. Not only due to the ads, but the trailers as well, and just some basic background knowledge on the character.

Literally not even two minutes into the movie, the whole theater was booming with laughter just from the opening credits scene. This opening credits scene is like none other, and took the whole audience by surprise. But the laughs didn’t end there, the movie had the entire theater laughing throughout the movie with snarky comments and well placed humor of all sorts.

Two side characters are introduced in this movie as well that belong to the X-Men franchise, Colossus, who has a metal form, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, who has the ability to generate explosions. These characters are introduced in the trailer and they represented the X-Men franchise for the movie.

Being that deadpool is an antihero, he is neither complete villain, nor complete superhero, making him an antihero. So Deadpool doesn’t belong to any particular hero group, he just floats around and does what he desires for the most part, which makes the character all the more interesting.

One thing to be aware of however is that the movie is rated R for a reason. There is a good deal of swearing and randy comments throughout the entire movie as well as violence and gore. There is also a several scenes with sexual content that is fairly graphic, this is probably not a movie to go to with your family to say the least.

Another thing to be aware of walking into the movie is that this movie, just like the deadpool comics, breaks the fourth wall. Which basically means that the character addresses the audience and is fully aware that they are in a movie, or comic book. This is a good thing to be aware of because some people don’t like it when movies break the fourth wall, so you have been notified.

A large debate surrounding this movie was whether or not the character would be portrayed accurately. Ryan Reynolds does a great job at capturing this character. With the perfect amount of sass, anger, humor, and randiness that are notorious to this character. Comic book fans will be relieved to find out that the character is well portrayed as far as character description and personality goes in the comics.

Overall the movie for most of the audience was a hit which is good because a few days ago Marvel announced that Deadpool will have a sequel. Deadpool got a four star (82%) over all score on Rotten Tomatoes from over 100 different critics. For superhero fans with a good sense of humor, Deadpool is definitely a must see.
