“Good morning Bengals this is your morning announcements!”  this statement is heard throughout the school every fourth hour of school. How does this get made, or who is in charge of running the Bengal Broadcast? Well this broadcast informs the entire school on important dates and just generally what is going on at BHS and is a daily struggle to create, edit, and distributed through the entire staff.

Only one class has the ability to run the Bengal Broadcast and there is only one teacher who can teach that class. Intro to TV Journalism is the class name and Mrs. Reisdorf is the teacher. “This class can go for all three tri’s and is super fun to hang out with friends and record funny videos for the school” says Avery Troy. In this class you can be an announcer, a camera guy, or just go around the school video taping all the fun segments.

There are many different segments on Bengal Broadcast. Some of the more fun ones to record are lunch crew, motivational Monday, lip sync, and the opener. “With this class you can have complete artistic freedom”- Riesdorf and that allows kids to be both innovated and creative in a news type of class.

This class gives the announcements in a more fun then just hearing it on the load speaker during fourth hour. With the good quality equipment at there use and the computer program Imovie the broadcast comes in with great clarity, just not the greatest sound control.

The Bengal Broadcast usually takes about three people for editing purposes and to make the videos actually make since. Being an announcer is not that much work, there is a teleprompter that scrolls down and is easy to read. It takes no memorization and is simple enough that all you need to do is be able to read and smile.

Bengal Broadcast is a class that really provides its students with reporter type skills and helps them grow as people period. Mrs. Reisdorf truly shows how creative rule over students can be a good thing that makes them think outside the box.
