MULTICULTURAL SHOW 2015
May 29, 2015
On Friday, May 22, Blaine High School students presented in the 2015 multicultural show. The performers invited the student body of Blaine from 2nd to 5th hour, and they even went on and did a night show (which showcased different acts). There is a lot of talent at Blaine High School, from the visual arts, to singing, dancing, acting, band and or orchestra. The multicultural show had all of these talents, but with a more unique twist. All of the acts had some sort of cultural background. The show is a really good thing for Blaine, because while some might say we go to a very diverse school; that’s not the case. The population of Hispanic, Black, Asian, and American Indian is outnumbered greatly by white people. This is the breakdown of ethnicity in the school’s student body, based on data reported on U.S. News online.
The multicultural show really fights to end racial ignorance at Blaine, and showcases the talents of different backgrounds in this school. It provides a creative outlet for those who wish to let the rest of the student body experience different cultures and contributes to creating a more diverse environment. We all come from different cultures and we all have different parts of our history. It’s important to accept and embrace your background and to also recognize that we’re part of a mixed salad in Blaine. We all have different unique flavors on life but in the end we are all high school students and we are all here.
