April 29th, It was a brisk night with a slight breeze going into the batters faces. The lights were shining and the fans were ready for some baseball thirty minutes before the game was even started. Multiple groups of students from both teams were tailgating to prepare for the game.

Ben Beckman(7) would be starting on the mound for the Bengals trying to get his team to a 7-5 record. But the Spring Lake Park Panthers were trying to spoil the great atmosphere on Staff Appreciation Night. The Bengals coming off of a close couple of wins against Osseo and Irondale, are hoping to extend their winning streak to 3.

The game started off emotionally with the seniors bringing out their favorite teachers on the field with them while the announcer read a speech that the seniors wrote. The Bengal seniors were hoping to get a win for their favorite teachers. The Panthers fans were definitely into the game with every pitch you could hear a roar from their student section that gave most of the parents on either side a little bit of laughter. But eventually it became too much and the umpire ordered them to stop.

Beckman gave them the start that they needed when he set the Panthers down 1-2-3 in the first inning. But Justin Weber(6) for the Panthers had a 1-2-3 of his own in the first inning. In the second inning the Bengals got it going with a couple of hits and a run making the score 1-0. The third inning had no scoring for either team, but in the 4th inning was when the fun started. The Bengals were ripping the ball with a couple of RBI singles by Zach Rustad(2) and Kevin Fanning(13) making it 4-0 Bengals.

In the 5th inning the Bengals added 2 more runs to make the gap too big to fill. The final 2 innings went fast. One of the Bengals superfans was still cheering her heart out near the Bengals 3rd base dugout to make sure that her team didn’t lose any focus, and they didn’t. Blaine ended the game with a 6-0 victory, and the seniors got exactly what they wanted for their favorite teachers. Ben Beckman(7) ended with a complete game, 1 hit shutout. Truly a game for the Bengals, and their favorite staff members to be proud of.
