On Tuesday, October 30th, 2012, at 2pm the Blaine Bengals Girl’s Varsity Team played the Wayzata Trojans. The final score was 4-1 with the Trojans coming out the winner.

Blaine’s only goal was scored by Karah Jolly(12) in the first half of the game at a time of 36 minutes 32 seconds with an assist from Ashley Pafko(12).

Blaine got one step closer to the championship game than last season.

One student in grade ten from Blaine said, “I really thought the girls were going to win it all. I know they tried their hardest, and they’re the type of people and teams that make me proud to go to Blaine High School”.

Wayzata’s scored three of their four goals in the very first half. The first goal was scored by Kylie Schwarz(12) at time of 15 minutes 31 seconds with an assist from Katie Shulz(12). Their second goal was by Summer Johnson(12) at a time of 24 minutes 13 seconds with an assist from Madeline Eklin(12).

Wayzata’s third goal was scored by Madeline Eklin(12) at a time of 26 minutes 4 seconds with an assist from Kiana Nickel(12). And their last goal was scored by Ruby Stauber(12) at a time of 35 minutes 30 seconds in the second half. The assist for this goal was made by Summer Johnson.

Wayzata had approximately 19 total shots while Blaine only had six. The goal keeper for the Trojans, Mara Dougherty(12), saved a total of only two goals. While Blaine’s keeper, Alex Barber-Verdick(12), saved a total of eight goals.

This will be Wayzata’s 11th championship game. They have had six wins in the championship, and four losses. Their latest was last season (2011), and they had another in 2009.

The Trojans will play again on Thursday, November 1st, 2012 at 3 p.m. for first place in the metrodome against White Bear Lake. The Bengals will be playing the same day at 8am in the metrodome again. They will be playing Lakeville North for the third place title.
