Results of the NHS Food Drive
November 3, 2017
The NHS Trick-or-Treat Food Drive has officially come to a close. NHS members dropped off their food items Wednesday, November 1st and Thursday, November 2nd. Once all the food items were brought in, NHS members loaded 13 of their cars full of food items, however, there was not enough room in the cars for all the food. Students in NHS filled a Uhaul truck in addition to the 13 cars. Mrs. Wewers drove the Uhaul along with the 13 other cars to the Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA).
From there the students took turns backing their cars into the loading garage to unload the food and place it in large boxes. Once a box was completely filled, a man in a forklift carried it to another area of the garage and the process was repeated.
They successfully filled about 20 boxes, weighing a total of 17,867 pounds. Last year, NHS donated 12,500 pounds of food. Their goal was to donate more pounds than last year, which they accomplished by donating 5,367 more pounds this year! Congratulations to the Blaine chapter of NHS and thank you for your service.
