Possible ghost sighting at Blaine

Blaine High School is haunted.  Or at least that’s how the story goes.  According to legend, Blaine is haunted by a girl named Alana. When you’re alone in the school, you will hear footsteps behind you, but when you turn around to look, you will see nothing, but the footsteps will continue.

There is also a story of how “Alana 6-1978” was written on the wall of the math bathroom.  The janitor took it off, but the phrase appeared a few days later in the exact same handwriting.

Other rumors have been spread about paranormal occurrences at Blaine, including tales of strange things happening in the tunnel below the school, toilets flushing for no particular reason, and a mysterious pink mask jumping off a wall.

An internet page that talks about Blaine being haunted was commented on by a person claiming to be a Blaine janitor.  The person confirmed that Blaine was haunted, stating that, “As a shift custodian I would like to confirm the story to be of true nature. We have witnessed footsteps, temperature changes in the bathroom that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, when the hallway is dark and we walk through to either commons areas all the toilets will flush at the same time for no reason. It’s creepy as [expletive] at night, BHS is one of a kind…

Fortunately, said commenter is likely not a Blaine custodian.

During an interview, Blaine’s custodians firmly denied there being a ghost at Blaine. The building tends to shift in the wind, making strange sounds that are not caused by a ghost.  You can accidentally set off the automatic toilets when you’re alone, causing them to flush for no apparent reason.

The custodians also claimed that the whole story about Alana 6-1978 couldn’t be true since none of the custodians ever cleaned such a thing off.  One of the janitors we talked to thought that the entire Alana story was about another school, possibly Fred Moore, but got put on the web under the false location of Blaine High School.

You could draw from this the conclusion, as a fellow student did, that “the whole Alana story is a bunch of crap.”  Or is it?  As Carl Sagan once stated, “the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.”  So, despite having no arguments for the existence of a ghost, there could still be one lurking around.  We’ll leave that up to you.
