Blaine Theatre Says Goodbye

Blaine Theatre Says Goodbye

After four years of hard work, and late rehearsals, Blaine High School Theater is saying goodbye to a talented batch.

Different characters and different shows, these senior have played in numerous exciting roles.

Who could forget the way the Mad Hatter, Played by Michael Voit, danced around the stage amazing the audience in Alice in Wonderland the Musical. What about Caroline Henning? Henning who had the audience trembling with fear and oddly, laughter in her most outstanding role yet as Samantha, a lunatic obsessed with her best friend in the one-act Miss Beth. And one couldn’t overlook the way Aaron Vandanacker and Adam Budnick had the audience laughing and aww-ing during the production of Hello Dolly the Musical. Quentina Dunbar, who equally impressed as the tail of the cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland the musical, used her wit and sassy attitude to make her character entirely her own. Jillian Scherb, who played Beth’s mom in the one-act miss beth, had the audience shuddering as they experienced flashbacks of their own parents trying hard and failing to be “cool”.

These seniors and the many others who have been involved in the BHS Theater, have helped their theater community grow. From filling seats, to extending a helping hand at Roosevelt Middle School where a theater program has been started, to providing leadership to the younger students involved in theater, these seniors have left their stamp in the BHS Theater history.

“I will miss being with my friends the most. We got to just hang out and goof off for 2 hours everyday and now without theater, we don’t know what to do I’ll miss them the most.” says Henning.

It is a goodbye that is bitter sweet. These seniors have spent memorable times in the BHS Theater and they shan’t be forgotten any time soon. The curtain has closed on them and its time for brand new crop to take their stand in the spotlight.
