Following the tragedy in conneticut last month, Blaine High school has teamed up with law enforcement and has implemented some new security policies recently.
There are now electronic locks on all of the school’s exterior doors. These doors are locked during the school day. The doors are set on electronic times which can lock and unlock the door automatically at certain times of the day. They are unlocked from 7a.m. to 7:40a.m. The doors are also unlocked during passing time to allow students to come and go if need be.
The doors can be unlocked during the school day with a key fab. A key fab is given to each staff member. This would allow a staff member to get inside the building during the school day. An extra key fab is given to teachers in the back portables if a student needs to get inside the main building, if the key fab is not brought back the school can disable it.
The school has also repositioned its security guards to help maximize security. A security guard is now positioned at the exterior doors to check in anybody coming in.
In conclusion, these policies have been put in place to keep the staff and students of Blaine High School safer.
