A Cheshire cat, a Mad Hatter, a talking caterpillar, a White Rabbit, a Tweedledee and a Tweedledum, what more could you ask for? Alice in Wonderland is jam packed with fun filled entertainment.
On November 2nd Blaine High School Theatre had their opening night for the musical Alice in Wonderland, based on the hit Disney show (1991-1995).
Alice in Wonderland was directed by Mrs. Hess, the head of the Blaine Theatre Department. The musical was an absolute delight to watch. With incredible songs, a beautiful set, and not to mention the wonderful acting, this show won’t have trouble bringing the child out of anyone. Just try to refrain from jumping out of your seats and singing and dancing along with the chorus members.
The musical featured not only one Alice, not two, but three! A small one, a medium one, and one who is quite tall. All three were great to watch, but my favorite out of the three, was small Alice, played by Caroline Henning (12). Henning was funny, sweet, and charming. She may be small, but Henning let her presence be known on the stage.
The Cheshire cat was also featured in threes: Head, played by Meckenna Woetzel (11); Middle, played by Christine Menge (11), and Tail, played by Quentina Dunbar (12). I simply could not pick a favorite, the Cheshire cats were witty -they had the audience laughing from start to finish.
After an intermission that came much to soon, the Mad Hatter, played by Michael Voit (12), captured the audiences full attention. Voit’s performance was simply outstanding but too short, which, ironically, was the reason why I was left a bit disappointed. Why? I was tempted to shout “We want more!” after the performance Voit gave. I held back the urge for fear of starting a riot in the theatre.
If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for? Alice in Wonderland will be performed at Blaine High School on November 3rd at 2:00 PM, and November 9th and 10th at 7:00 PM. Don’t miss out on seeing this fantastic show, you won’t regret it!
