The Hobbit, prequel to the award winning Lord of the Rings trilogy, is an amazing production that shows the very beginning of it all. From the shire, the home of Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins, to the mountains and valleys of Middle Earth. The movie is a production based on the book by the same name and is a great background to the setting of the The Lord of the Rings movies. Although the movie The Hobbit is just the first of three, the book is considerably shorter than the other three in the series.

Having three hours for just the first third of the book is a great oppurtunity to pay closer attention to smaller details and delve deeper into the plot. It shows the beginning of the book, the book that Frodo had in The Lord of the Rings and despite how dramatic Bilbo’s quest is there is still room for humor.

As the past behind the quest unfolds, many jokes and side comments are made between Bilbo and his companions. The music only worked to enhance the overall feeling of the movie and the special affects were amazing. This movie is absolutely a must see for dedicated fans of the series.
