Modern Warfare Novel Review

I have recently read two different book series on the war against terrorists.

The first one is by Jack Coughlin. It is about a sniper named Kyle Swanson, who fights back against Middle Eastern terrorists. The books include:  Kill Zone, Dead Shot, Clean Kill, An Act of Treason, and Running the Maze.

Different from the rest of the books in the series, Dead Shot and Clean Kill, the main character Kyle Swanson wants to find an enemy sniper, who has the same mindset that he does. This series shows more of the actual action that is taken to stop terrorists.

In the Coughlin series, the stories can run out of ideas quickly.

The second series is the Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn. It is about a CIA operative who does a secret black-ops war, blending in to take the enemy out. These books include: Transfer of Power, The Third Option, Separation of Power, Executive Power, Memorial Day, Consent to Kill, Act of Treason, Protect and Defend, Extreme Measures, American Assassin, Kill Shot, and his new one The Last Man.

In the Rapp series, you get both action, and the political aspect of it all. It also shows how the decisions of the government can directly impact the people who are protecting us overseas.

My personal choice would be the Flynn series. I say that because it’s longer and gives the reader a more detailed idea of what goes on in the stories. It also gives the reader both sides of how a war is run, with the actions of one group affecting the other. I also like the main character Rapp and his mood towards the politicians who always seem to want to stop him from putting an end to the threat of terrorists. Flynn also does a good job of bringing in new possibilities for his character, Rapp. This series can be one that goes on for years to come.

Both of these series are great. Hope you enjoy the read!
