Dunn

This year, many changes have occurred in the life of Mr. Dunn, the social studies teacher at Blaine High School. And many are still to come. Mr. Dunn is rumored to be retiring at Blaine High School.

Gary Dunn has been involved in the Blaine High school community. Dunn has been a part of many programs, including one he founded, called Strive. It is a program that helps students who are just starting college, to get ready for the future, and to help them find jobs in the career area of their interest.

Dunn has also been involved in personal fundraisers that took place at Blaine High School. “There was a student I had, very bright and amazing personality that was diagnosed with cancer. I got together a fundraiser to help pay for her chemo therapy treatments, and for her parents well-being. I don’t know where she is today, but I hope she’s happy and alright”

Haley Wayne (11) at Blaine said “Mr. Dunn has always been a really cool guy. And he was always so nice; he would say hi to me in the hallways every time I passed his classroom. He was even involved in Bengal Junction; an after school tutor program for kids who need help with homework. He will be missed in the Blaine family.”

Mrs. Dunn, a social studies teacher as well, “I am not retiring this year, but I am happy for Mr. Dunn. He has had a great career in District 11, teaching at three schools, and serving as a Dean of Students at BHS for 7 of his 34 years in education. I am very proud of him. He is a great teacher and is extremely dedicated to his students. His tremendous depth of knowledge and his great sense of humor have made his classes very interesting and fun for his students. I will miss him as a Social Studies colleague.”

Though he will be missed by many, as a friend, and as a teacher, he says that he’d like this time after thirty four years of teaching, to have a little fun… Maybe even travel.
