Des Moines, I.A.– Early morning, on Wednesday this week; two officers were shot while each sitting alone in their patrol cars.

According to ABC News, local officers responded to a report shortly after 1:00 pm Wednesday morning. The officers found a local police officer who had been fatally shot while sitting alone in his patrol car. Officials identified the deceased officer as Justin Martin (24 years of age), who had been with his department since 2015.

Only minutes later, officials found a Des Moines police officer who had also been shot in his patrol car. As the officials arrived, the recently shot officer; Anthony ¨tony¨ Beminio (39 years of age) was only wounded. Beminio was rushed to the local hospital where he later died. Officer Beminio who is now deceased, had been with his department since 2005.

“There is clearly danger if you are a police officer. These guys were gunned down, sitting in their car, doing nothing wrong,” he said. “So there is definitely some danger out there, there is someone out there shooting police officers. We hope we find him before anyone else gets hurt. We definitely don’t want anyone in the public or in the community to get hurt, but there is a clear and present danger to police officers right now.”

–Stated Sgt. Paul Parizek of the Des Moines Police Department said at a press conference Wednesday morning.

Not a full day after the cowardly ambushes among the two officers did officials arrest a suspect. Scott Michael Greene (46 years of age), was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Thursday. ¨He will be transported to Polk County Jail later Thursday¨ officials said in a statement.

–As the case develops more information will be released.

**Keep the officers in your heart, and pray for their loved ones.
