Boys’ Basketball: Blaine at Maple Grove

The Blaine boys basketball team played their last regular season game in Maple Grove on Friday night, and dropped the game to the Crimson by a score of 84-51.

It was a close matchup at Maple Grove Senior High until around halftime, when the Crimson made it clear who the superior team was. Blaine shot just 28% in the game, despite a 5 of 9 shooting performance from senior big man Justin Mbanefo (12).  He put in 12 points and grabbed 6 boards to lead his team in both categories.

The Bengals finish their regular season with a record of 8-18, and on a six game losing streak. Their first section game will be against Andover on Thursday, March 7th at Andover High School. The game will be played almost one month since Blaine’s last win. The Huskies have defeated the Bengals twice this season in conference play, first on January 8th and again on February 12th.
